For most women, the fear around booking a boudoir session doesn’t come from the photos themselves.

It comes from the unknown. We all fear the unknown, right?

Not knowing what will be expected of you. Not knowing how exposed you’ll feel. Not knowing if you’ll “do it right.” So, what happens during a boudoir shoot?

So let’s take the mystery out of it.

Woman learning what happens during a boudoir shoot

Step One: You Arrive as You Are

You don’t walk in confident. You don’t need to feel “on.” You arrive human — maybe a little nervous, maybe excited, maybe both.

That’s normal. Expected, even.

The beginning of a session is intentionally slow. There’s time to settle in, breathe, and get grounded. No cameras in your face. No pressure to perform.

You arrive, we chat and you relax in the hair and makeup chair. Your hair and makeup artist will do her thing and the three of us will chat and get comfortable with each other.

Step Two: You’re Guided Every Step

You’re never left wondering what to do with your hands, your face, or your body.

Every pose is guided. Every movement is intentional. You’re talked through it in a way that feels supportive, not awkward or overly technical. Jodi will even show you the pose prior to you doing it.

You’re not expected to be confident — you’re supported until confidence starts to show up on its own.

Step Three: You Realize You’re Safe

This is the moment most women don’t expect.

The shift.

You realize you’re not being judged. You’re not being rushed. You’re not being asked to be someone else.

Your shoulders drop. Your breath deepens. The room feels quieter.

And suddenly, you’re not thinking about how you look — you’re just there. Showing the best version of you to the camera and loving every minute of it!

Step Four: Confidence Sneaks In

Confidence doesn’t arrive loudly. It slips in quietly.

In the way you hold eye contact a little longer. In the way your body relaxes into the pose. In the realization that you’re capable of more than you thought.

By the end of the session, most women aren’t shocked by how they look — they’re surprised by how they felt.

Seen. Supported. Strong.

That’s what actually happens.

Step by amazing step.
