START BY TELLING ME WHO YOU ARE? WHERE ARE YOU FROM? GIVE ME A SHORT BIO OF YOU AND YOUR LIFE.

My name is Lindsey Chapman. I was born in Tennessee, moved to NY, then Illinois. At the age of 11 we moved to Newburyport, Ma which is considered my home. I moved to Harrisburg, Pa in 1994, left for culinary school in 1998, and returned 22 yrs ago. I decided on a career change and became a nurse 14 1/2 years ago. My biggest growth , as a nurse, came from the ER and the people who have touched my life helped mold me into the nurse I am today. In 2008, right after becoming a nurse, I met my best friend- 8 years later I married him! About 3 years ago I graduated from my Masters program and became a nurse practitioner. I currently work side by side with my father, a local Physician who has been in the area for well over 40 years. In the midst of all of that, I have two children (21 and 27) and a granddaughter!

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING YOUR AGE?

At this point, the best is the growth I have gone through, and although life is hectic at times, it’s more settled. I am able to travel, spend time with my family, spend time in my garden and work on my diy/woodworking projects. I am also better able to appreciate the important things in life and make them priority.

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT?

I have a couple- but over all- my children. They are beautiful, loving, motivated and hard working. They have given me the typical joy and “pain” that children do; but as I watch them grow, I have so many “proud mommy moments”.

One other thing that was so huge- I thought about not saying this- but it’s important for others to hear, see, and know. Walking away from an abusive relationship is one of my greatest achievements. I knew I was possibly risking my life, and was terrified both myself and my son would be harmed. My son, thankfully, was not. I however suffered significant physical and emotional injuries. But I was able to get out, and seek the help and safety from family and advocates/support groups. I was able to move forward and move on and achieve success in so many aspects.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING THAT YOU HAVE CHECKED OFF YOUR BUCKET LIST?

Parasailing!! A huge fear- but I didn’t want my daughter to not be able to go- she was 10 at the time.

Working with my dad. I wanted to be a doctor when I was little and work with him one day. But then I left the idea behind and tried life outside of medicine. Once a nurse, and toying with the idea of becoming an NP, I knew working with my dad was back on the list!

WHAT TRAIT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?

My ability to care for others and push through tough challenges.

HAVE YOUR PERCEPTIONS OF WHAT BEING "ATTRACTIVE" MEANS CHANGED OVER TIME? WHAT DO YOU DEFINE AS ATTRACTIVE NOW?

I always thought you had to be 5’10” and borderline anorexic. Then I learned that you are beautiful no matter what your size or shape.

FIERCE Over 40 is about beauty, strength, encouragement. It’s about coming out of your shell and feeling things that you maybe haven’t felt in a while. When was the last time you felt special? Beautiful? Strong? Let us help you!
