We have had our share of attorney’s come through our studio for the FIERCE Over 40 project. If you still think that attorney’s are all stuffy or something after this 40 over 40, you need to revisit the blogs of these ladies. 63 year old Delores, a Harrisburg attorney, joined us for a FIERCE session. It was amazing to hear her stories and see some of her pictures that she brought in to share different stages of her life with me.
START BY TELLING ME WHO YOU ARE? WHERE ARE YOU FROM? GIVE ME A SHORT BIO OF YOU AND YOUR LIFE.
I am a mother and grandmother. So far, I have lived a very eclectic life with many adventures. I have traveled all over the world because of my father's military career. In my youth, I also joined the Army to become a Chinese-Mandarin linguist. Within the past 20 years, I became an attorney with a master's degree in trial advocacy. Before COVID, I had my own law practice geared towards business clients and government procurement. I have no real retirement plan, so I am currently looking forward to my next adventure. It should be great!
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING YOUR AGE?
Peace and the lack of drama. Somewhere, I even managed to gain a little wisdom along the way.
WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT?
My daughters. They have both grown to be independent women.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING THAT YOU HAVE CHECKED OFF YOUR BUCKET LIST?
I returned to Monterey, CA and went whale watching.
WHAT TRAIT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
My personality and communication skills. I am very outgoing and sometimes gregarious. Because of my honesty, what I say is usually understood and believed.
WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST FEAR?
I know that God gives me the will and the power to do whatever satisfies Him. Therefore, there is no need to fear anything.
IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I am constantly changing and evolving. These days, I am working to become the best possible version of me. Therefore, I am constantly rethinking my position in different areas. I am allowing the old ways to drop by the wayside as I push forward.
WHEN, IN YOUR LIFE, HAVE YOU FELT MOST CONFIDENT, AND WHY?
Once I understood I am special and unique, I began to feel confident. Marketing bombardment constantly sends the message that something is wrong with you unless you look a certain way, have certain things, or act certain ways. Once I shut all of that out, I realized marketing could never sell or dictate who I am. I am completely confident there isn't another copy of me in the entire universe. So how I operate or what I do is uniquely me.
HAVE YOUR PERCEPTIONS OF WHAT BEING "ATTRACTIVE" MEANS CHANGED OVER TIME? WHAT DO YOU DEFINE AS ATTRACTIVE NOW?
To me attractiveness is most visible in serenity. When a serene person enters the room it is easy to pick up on the peace they exude. In this chaotic world, I am drawn to those who are most comfortable in their own skin.
FIERCE Over 40 ladies, WHERE YOU AT??? Our 2023 calendar is filling up. Will you be a part of it?
